What is SEO Poop?

That sure is hell is a good question!

I logged into my LinkedIn account today and started doom scrolling. Now, it’s important to note that my feed is jam-packed full of great SEO people and also horseshit SEO people – I have thousands of “connections” (and by “connections I mean mostly asshats I have never met before but allowed the connection to take place over 15 years of knowing LinkedIn is a BS sales/networking wasteland).

Anyways, I logged in today to see everyone updating their status to discuss another
Core Update” by Google, and sharing articles about it, using their “data” to try and understand what Google is up to, sharing comments form industry people, speculating, etc.

I’m sure in a few days some asshat will coin a name for this update just like all the others. The SEO community will spend weeks discussing how it affects the SERPS, complaining about this and that, and offering advice, consulting, services, info-products, and so on.

Much of this advice will probably be a 180 on advice that same “gurus” or experts we’re giving after the last update.

*Sigh*

I’ve grown more and more cynical in the last few years as I enter my 3rd decade of studying Google and SEO, and I’m tired. I just wanna shit and / or make fun of this industry every day, as it’s just gotten to the point of absolute ridiculousness.

Working in SEO is living in a bubble of mostly bullshit marketers who smell each other’s asses every day, touting how smart and great they are at understanding SEO, and fooling their clients or bosses about the great work they do in SEO and how magically delicious SEO is and in turn make lots of money in SEO while the entire time not stopping to smell their own brand of bullshit.

Thus the idea to start this blog, SEO Poop. Here I will go in-depth about the shit I see and hear every day in the world of SEO, to prepare you, the consumer or perhaps individual working in / studying SEO, to grab a piece of toilet paper before you sit on the seat, or to hold your nose before the smell reaches you, or to look down before stepping into that giant turd of SEO advice you’re about to step in as you continue your journey through the septic tank that this industry can sometimes be.

I’ve had enough of this shit – and you should to!
